M&p .22 Compact - The M&P22 Compact is one of Smith & Wesson's most attractive recent offerings. This gun resembles the 9mm shield, but the mechanics are different.
Smith and Wesson says they have a strong commitment to this line of pistols and that their team pays close attention to reliability and quality standards.

Their claims are accurate. The gun features a hard anodized 7075 TG51 aluminum body. The frame is modern polymer.
Question About The M&p22 Compact
The result is a beautiful handgun that is affordable but doesn't feel cheap. Due to the gun's construction, one feather weighs 15.3 ounces.
The fit of the gun is excellent. Most hand sizes are found by the military and police.
An 18-degree grip angle, meaning the grip is at an 18-degree angle from the punch line, creates good scoring.
A fun exercise is to shoot the small silhouette of the B27 at 10 meters. The M&P22 is very accurate for most tasks.

The gun uses a conventional spring and guide rod. Action, breakdown and handling are very simple and the trigger breaks cleanly.
Magazines are well made and ten round units. I prefer magazines over the general range of polymer or cheap magazines.
Some .22s look cheap, but not this gun. The design is not a plinker, it is designed for personal defense training.
The gun is also very accurate for casual shooting and shooting. It is accurate enough to be useful in the field.

I have taken small game with less accurate guns. It can easily cut a reptile or remove a rabbit from the bed.
Tactical features include an ergonomic, ambidextrous safety and a crisp trigger. The rear sights are fully adjustable and the front sight is very impressive.
There is a push today to design handguns that are easier for shooters with limited hand strength, including the elderly, to use.
In terms of personal defense, the .22 long rifle has no bullet mass or diameter, but will probably have enough penetration in most situations.

My opinion is that if I can't field at least a .38 Special or a 9mm Luger, I'll get a reliable .22 soon enough. The M&P22 is a reliable .22, which is a big deal!
Not long ago, it was rare to shoot a 500-round brick of .22 LR without multiple misfires or the bullet tilting sideways in the feed ramp without a cartridge.
I was recently part of a team that fired nearly 2,000 rounds of .22 LR without a single misfire or misfeed. In my experience that is unusual.
M&P magazines are easy to load and prepare. Also, the pistol slide is easy to carry.

I started shooting the inexpensive Winchester Wildcat with the famous 40-grain load. I shot several boxes with good results.
Firing at man-sized targets at five, seven and ten yards, the diminutive Smith controlled and quickly hit the target.
For training in personal defense shooting, this is a good gun. The gun hits the target accurately and handles well.
For those who have trouble handling a hard-kicking pistol, the M&P22 is a good pistol for defense and recreation, caliber aside, but the .22 LR is a useful cartridge.

For use as a field pistol, the M&P22 is easier to use than most kit-gun type revolvers.
If you're using a .22 for personal defense, it's a ten-shot autoloader before a rimfire revolver.
I then tested the gun for absolute accuracy. Firing from a solid barricade, I fired several five-shot groups at 15 yards.
I used Winchester Wildcat and Winchester Super X 37 grain hollow point. The 16-ounce gun is not easy to hold consistently, but the gun produced good results.

Most five-shot groups were two inches or less. With a fully adjustable rear sight, the M&P22 is an excellent field pistol.
I test a lot of modern guns. While I sometimes think that modern guns are getting better, there are guns that are made as cheaply as possible and others that make us wonder what the designer was thinking.
As a primary handgun, for training or field use, the new Smith & Wesson is a great addition to anyone's gun safe.
I have used TruGlo Combat Light with good results. It fits the rail and offers good performance for the money.

I don't recommend using it in another holster that's designed for the gun, but in this case, it's fine to work close enough to the gun.

The original M&P pistol was a revolver, not a semi-automatic. The M&P moniker officially appeared in 1899 with the release of the S&W .38 Military & Police revolver. It is chambered for the .38 M&P. Chambered in .38 Spl., this revolver was the standard police weapon of the 20th century.

This military aspect occurred during World War II, when approximately one million pistols were produced for the military. Later designated the Model 10, the gun is still going strong today. With a 6-shot cylinder and fixed sights, the four-inch version of the Model 10 was purchased for many purposes, not the least of which was home defense or concealed carry.
Fast forward to 2005, and S&W decided to expand its M&P line by releasing a series of M&P-branded semi-automatic pistols. The first pistol calibers were 9mm and .40 S&W. Eventually, the .45 ACP, .22 LR, and .380 pistols were introduced. The name also made its way to rifles with the introduction of the M&P15 series, which S&W adopted on the AR platform.
A 5.56mm version was released in 2005, and a .22 LR variant in 2009. Our pistol, a .22 compact, is from 2013. The M&P line has been great for S&W since the revolver was introduced 121 years ago. It's hard to say whether we've seen the end of the M&P brand of firearms.

You can't see it, but there is a hammer - this gun has no striker. Note that with many .22 pistol barrels, the barrel is fixed to the frame. The removal lever makes it easy to remove the area. This is a good place to add some quick removal instructions.
This is a different trigger safety than the trigger safety used by other Glocks. You have to pull the bottom part to retract the trigger. That is, the gun does not go if it falls, among other things.
I shot three different types of .22 ammo. They are: CCI MiniiMag, Winchester Super-Speed, Federal Champion. Here is a sample target for each charge.
What do these goals tell me? The first thing I see when looking at these is that they don't shoot well with the sights open, and that's obvious.
