Camp Lejeune Reception Center
Located right on the Atlantic coast between two deep water ports, Camp Lejeune is an ideal location for naval installations. Construction on the base began in April 1941, and in 1942 it was officially named Camp Lejeune after Lt. Gen. John A. Lejeune, who served as the Corps' 13th commander.

Whether you're coming from the north or the south, the easiest way to get to Camp Lejeune is via I-95.
If this is your first time on base, or if you do not yet have a valid military ID and tags for your vehicle, you may need to stop at the Visitor Center to check in before being allowed on base. Click here to learn more about what to expect.
Jacksonville has a fairly extensive, bus-based public transportation system. And its Scarlet Express route includes several stops both on and off base, including the wide main MCX. So it's easy to get on or off Lejeune by public transport.
The Jacksonville Greyhound station is in the middle of town and not far from the base itself. It's also close to several stops on the public transport routes mentioned above, so getting from the station to the base is a matter of a simple transfer.

The nearest Amtrak stop is in the nearby town of Wilson, North Carolina. And Greyhound service runs from this station to their station in Jacksonville, so it's pretty easy to transfer from train to bus to get to Camp Lejeune.
There are several small and regional airports near Camp Lejeune, but the closest major hub is Raleigh-Durham International Airport in Raleigh, North Carolina. There is also a Greyhound station about a two and a half hour drive from the base in Raleigh that will take you to Jacksonville in less than four hours.

Base's Access Control Complex Focuses On Safety, Security, Customer Service > Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune > Article
All arriving personnel must first check in at the Joseph "Randy" Reichler Reception Center (JRRRC) before checking in with their personal commands. The JRRRC is located at Building 59 Molly Pitcher Road and you are expected to bring a valid military ID, a copy of your orders, SRB/OQR and health and dental records. After check-in is done at the front desk, they will direct you to IPAC (also inside Building 59) to complete the procedure.
The reception is open from Monday to Friday at 0730-1630. For check-in after hours, on weekends or holidays, the JRRRC has a buzzer that can be used to call the NCO on duty.
The Base Visitor Center is located in building TT-13, right next to the Wilson Boulevard gate along Highway 24. Open Monday through Friday from 0500 to 2100, the center handles all non-contractor guests seeking access to Camp Lejeune. If you have any questions about the visit, you can contact the center at 1 (910) 451-7734.
Whether you need a new ID or CAC card or other changes to your admin information, Camp Lejeune DEERS headquarters is conveniently located at the aforementioned JRRRC. In addition, there is a satellite detection office in Stone Bay. Book an appointment online and skip the waiting room.

Camp Lejeune has a total of four libraries, so there's bound to be a place near you where you can borrow a good book or two. Reading and teaching programs are also available for children of all ages.

Camp Lejeune is located entirely in the city of Jacksonville, North Carolina. Onslow County's leading city, Jacksonville's military history dates back to the 18th century, when the nearby New River served as a center for the production and storage of naval supplies. Today, it is one of the fastest growing cities in the country and has one of the lowest median ages, due in large part to the large number of military and young veterans who live here. Jacksonville itself offers several great neighborhoods to live in, but some nearby cities and towns also have a wide variety of housing options and amenities that might sound perfect for you and your family when you move here. But there are several other beautiful towns within easy commuting distance of the base, including the beach towns of Cedar Point, Swansboro and Sneads Ferry.
Not only is Jacksonville a very convenient place to live in Camp Lejeune, but there are also many things that make the city a great place to call home. The city has several residential areas, from the Country Club Estates next to the golf course to the family-friendly Williamsburg Plantation. And for those who want the convenience of the city and a little more country style, the West River neighborhood sits on the edge of the city and offers access to both. And since the base is in the middle of the city, your commute takes about 15 minutes.
It's a bit from the base, about an hour from the main gate. But if you want to enjoy quality beach life, Cedar Point is perfect for you. Miles north of the ocean and the Croatian National Forest, this is a great city for anyone who loves the outdoors. It's a small town, so there may not be much excitement or big business, but the natural splendor and beautiful surroundings should be more than enough for you to enjoy here.

Another beautiful beach town about an hour's drive from the base, Swansboro is right on the Atlantic Ocean. Living here offers wonderful opportunities for anyone who loves to swim, boat, or otherwise enjoy the water. From the historic district overlooking the ocean to the great annual events that take place downtown, boredom is the last thing you'll find if you make this town your home while at Camp Lejeune.
The city already hosts an annual shrimp festival, so why not make one for you and your family too? This former small fishing village just half an hour from the base has grown by leaps and bounds in recent decades, mainly due to the relocation and housing of Camp Lejeune personnel. And if they like Sneads Ferry, you probably will too. Because if you've ever wanted to build a home in a place that epitomizes a quaint, charming beach town, this is exactly the place you're looking for.
